Tips to Keep Friendliness with Students by Supporting Their Mental Wellbeing

Students have their own world of knowledge and information where they keep on learning new skills so that they can increase the rate of their survival and growth. A tutor can’t be best friends with any of his/her students forever because the moment he/she starts being strict regarding discipline, students will not like it. Hence, it needs a balancing attitude. That is why schools are adopting modern tools of education like the  learning management system because  the learning management system of educational institutions instructs the tutors to maintain a thin line of respect and discipline between them and students. It is good to have a friendly relationship with students but there should be a fixed time of teacher with students and this tone should be for the overall class. Teachers should be very polite but along with this he or she should concentrate on educating more rather than getting interested in personal lives and matters. Tutors should focus on completing the course for the students but meanwhile it is also necessary for them to make learning jolly for the students. It is found in various studies that those tutors who teach in funny methods, students love to attend his/her class. Doesn’t matter how far the tutor may plan and activate boundaries still students will ask many questions related to their personal life and indulgence of the tutor in the personal life of students is not good. Students have a lot of curiosity about their role model tutor so sometimes they ask questions related to the tutor’s personal life. At this moment the tutor should reply politely, “I do not discuss my personal life with others dear” and if the students insist still then the tutor can procrastinate the situation by saying a funny line, ” O dear! listening to my story will put you to sleep”.

In a study performed in the United States of America, kids from 3-17 years are suffering from anxiety and depression and unfortunately kids from 12-17 years sometimes try to hurt themselves. To handle such chaotic situations school administrations are adopting school ERP. It is so because school ERP never leaves a single stone unturned in order to maintain disciplinary order as well as helping attitude towards students. Parents & tutors need to keep a keen eye on weird symptoms in their kids also like uncontrolled behaviour, drastic mood swings, difficulty in sleeping and eating habits, continuous complaints of headache and degrading academic performance. It is good to be friendly with students just because the tutor can’t put the academic life of the students at risk. Teacher needs to be professional for his job which means to have little distance from students, completely focus on teaching and guiding students as much as possible in their learning process. Along with this teacher needs to be present always to guide his or her students wherever they need his/her guidance in the learning process.

There is a lot which parents can do to support the mental health of students and kids. They can encourage their kids to perform random acts of kindness because it beings’ self-satisfaction to the mind and it soothes the heart too. Following it students and kids can bake cookies for neighbours, donate their old books and toys to needy kids, wish birthday to their hard-working tutor etc. This activity not only improves the mental health of children but also spreads a message of kindness to everyone. Whenever the mind is filled with stress then it needs to be ventilated somehow to relax the mind and mental status and regarding these physical activities are the best ways. It is found in many studies that young people who are regular in physical activities and exercises can be found very healthy and have very low levels of depression, anxiety and stress.

There should be a habit of family dinners in families where kids can get company of adults and enjoy dinner with the whole family. This brings a feeling of togetherness at the end of the day. It doesn’t matter whatever happened the whole day. Such an open communication with family decreases stress as well as kids getting solutions to their issues. Most importantly, to support the mental status of kids’ parents, they can make sure that kids get an ample amount of sleep of 7-8 hours a day on a regular basis. Most importantly, to get their minds into line with some innovative things so as to escape stress and depression students and kids should be made to follow their passion. When kids are busy with hobbies which bring joy to their mental status then they perform well in their academics too. Following the above enumerated ways student’s mental health can be kept fit and fine always.
